This’ll Learn Ya

Here’s a little lesson for you…

And I’ve said this many a time before…

But this week I backed it up again…

Now I went balls to the wall for 3 days…

One day of huge physical exertion that pushed
me to my limits (I ached ALL OVER for 4 days
afterwards)…

Another day of pushing myself emotionally
(which is hugely exhausting)…

Followed by a third day of a bit of both…

Then I came down with a cold… (I can’t
remember the last time I had one)…

So what I learned from that (again) is that
if you push yourself to the limits then you
burn out AND FAST…

I mean I felt like an old man for FOUR
days…

And I’m a pretty mobile fella but I was out
of breath walking up the steps to my
flat…

So sorting out weights to get to the park was
pretty hard going…

Now you probably get tired a fair bit…

– Staring at a computer screen while mentally
challenging yourself all day (without taking
a break)…

– Driving 800 miles in a week to get a sale
or visit different locations…

– Doing a circuit session where you smash
yourself to pieces to burn that extra few
pounds before going home and collapsing in a
sweaty heap…

Don’t get me wrong… we need to work to our
near max in most areas at some point…

To test ourselves or just get stuff done…

^^^ But if we’re CONSTANTLY working this hard
then something will give…

Seriously my man… something will happen to
stop you in your tracks…

Think about that for a moment my friend…

When was the last time you had a couple of
weeks off?…

What happened?…

Did you feel like you were ready to wind down
only to feel completely rubbish for the first
week?…

So exhausted and ill that you couldn’t
function properly for a few days…

That’s your body giving you a bit of a
message right there Cheech…

It’ll keep you going as long as you need it
to (within reason)…

But as soon as you give it an opportunity to
save itself it’ll shut you down faster than
the IT helpdesk…

And won’t let you reboot until it’s ready…

That’s why we take an intelligent approach to
your health…

We make sure we keep you strong, fit and
healthy without making you puke…

^^^ Cos that’s counterproductive (and pretty
stupid to be honest)…

And we’re not athletes here right…

We increase your limits while rarely pushing
you to them…

This way you can progress EVERY DAY without
burning out…

^^^ Then every now and then we’ll test you to
see how much better you’ve become (which is
usually more than you’d expected considering
you never seem to have pushed yourself that
hard)…

And you can apply this right across your
life…

Meaning you take breaks at work to give
yourself a chance to replenish…

Just a 10 minute walk will do it (a few times
a day)…

Or how about this for an idea…

Get down the park and join a bunch of fellas
exactly like you who all nearly burned
themselves out until they discovered how to
train intelligently…

Without it taking over their entire lives…

May sold out the other day…

But that doesn’t mean you should hang around
my man…
