Here’s Why Dry January Doesn’t Work

I have to confess to having the odd heavy
night now and then…

It VERY rarely happens… mainly cos I can’t
handle hangovers any more…

Not like when I was in my 20s and could go
out 3 nights a week…

Get smashed…

And still just about function…

Anyhoo…

When I was in Newcastle the other week…

I ended up having one of these nights…

Wasn’t my fault…

I bumped into someone I hadn’t seen for
ages… (at one in the morning)…

So I had to stay for another few drinks…

Wasn’t a good idea by the way…

As I was walking back to my brother’s flat…

I had to go past the university library…

And there were students in there working…

At 3.15 in the morning…

IS THAT NORMAL?

Must be…

Surely if you don’t know it by that time in
the morning… you’re not going to learn much
else…

And as we all know – cramming for anything
doesn’t work…

It might for a little while… but you WILL
burn out…

It’s the same as your fitness…

You’ve let it go…

You haven’t done much for a while…

You’ve eaten too much over Christmas…

Those all butter deep filled mince pies are a
delight aren’t they?…

So you plan to have a dry January… (which I
encourage by the way)…

But only cos it means I can have a quiet pint
in my local…

Been a bit manic the last few weeks…
haven’t even been able to get a seat…
(humbug)…

But this is similar to cramming…

Dry January…

Smash yourself in the gym EVERY DAY…

Then you can be assured that by Feb…

You’ll be spitting feathers… gasping for a
pint…

And your body will feel ruined…

Sounds like a plan…

Now what if you didn’t have to do this…

What if you could exercise for 3 hours per
week?… (not much at all)…

Ok you can exercise EVERY DAY… (walking is
exercise right)…

^^^ and it’s hugely effective ^^^

What if you didn’t have to give up booze for
January?… (won’t work anyway)…

And what if you could do something that works
but NO-ONE else will do…

So you can be the smug git down the pub…

Laughing at your mates cos they did what you
were going to do…

But you got the better results…

Cos you stuck at it…

And didn’t actually have to give up that
much…

You’ll also keep it going through Feb… and
March…

When they’ve all given up for another year…

So be the guy who your mates are jealous
of…
